Maro lives and works in Thessaloniki. She graduated from the University of Trier (former West Germany) in 1989, completing her studies in clinical psychology and acquiring the title of
Dipl.
Psychologin. Since 1995, she has been licensed to practice as a psychologist. In 2002, she acquired the title of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Counsellor from IC & CR / AODA (International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium / Alcohol and other Drugs).
Her involvement with psychodrama began in 1994 as a trainee of the Greek Branch of the London Centre for Psychodrama Group and Individual Psychotherapy. She was certified as a psychodramatist by the Psychodrama Centre for Personality Development (member of FEPTO – European Federation of Psychodrama Training Organizations).
Maro has a wealthy work experience, as she has been working since 1990 as a psychologist in the field of drug dependence treatment, drug prevention, parental counselling in “Parents’ Schools”, adult education and training (teachers and health professionals), experiential methods and mental health promotion of children and adolescents, women’s entrepreneurial empowerment, and support to vulnerable social groups.
In every work setting and area of activity, psychodrama has been and still is the agglutinating factor of her philosophy and approach, enriching herself as a person and as a professional.
Currently, she brings her vast experience from group / individual psychotherapy and counselling to the Centre for the Study and Application of Psychodrama | Sofia Symeonidou, where she provides supervision for trainees in psychodrama as a scientific associate.
